Goodbye 2008...a look back...

Well, today is the last day of 2008. What a year it has been! We started the year off celebrating the new year of 2008 at Jodi & Norm's with a bunch of friends, which is where we'll be tonight celebrating 2009. Lia was 1/2 way through 6th grade at Cornerstone and I was in the midst of planning the wedding of the year - mine & Mike's.
January's ice & snow ended brought on my accident at the end of the month. I totaled my car and damaged my knee pretty bad. My first thought was, "oh Lord, I have to walk down the aisle..." That's what I kept telling the EMTs.

Jamie flew out to visit us and celebrated his 22nd birthday on SuperBowl Sunday.

We lost 2 very special family members in early 2008. The first to pass away was probably one of the most amazing women anyone would ever know - my grandmother, Mary Alice Foley Shurtz. She raised 11 children and had all kinds of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her absence this past Christmas was very hard.

The 2nd family member we lost only 2 weeks after my grandmother passed away - Mike's cousin, Christopher James McGlasson. He and 3 of his friends were killed in a horrible car accident. He was only 19 years old.

After 2 showers and an unforgettable bachelorette party, the wedding day was finally here - 6/7/08. A day Mike & I will always remember...

Mike & I went to a couple Cardinals games, a NASCAR race in Chicago, and to Las Vegas to celebrate Jodi & Norm's wedding. We also found time to buy our first home...

...oh, and get pregnant. Our baby boy is due in April of 2009!

The year ended with Christmas shopping and spending time with family & friends...just the way it should be. In the world, 2008 gave us very high & very low gas prices, a new President, and the death of a lot of great actors/actresses. We will end 2008 surrounded by friends, laughter, and our kids. What a way to end it, and I can't wait to see what 2009 brings.
