So, in case you don't know - I hate our basement. It's one of those Blair Witch Project looking places - completely creepy. I've gone down there a total of maybe 4 times, not counting this morning, mainly to look for things that we swear we had but couldn't find since the move. Anyway, at 5:30 am this morning, the sirens here in Lincoln went off. I immediately rushed into Lia's room, woke her up (which by the way was the fastest I've ever seen her get out of bed), ran into the nursery and got Kyan, and ran downstairs. As Lia got the dog into the basement, I grabbed the scanner and looked for a pacifier. I couldn't find one (and when I don't need one, they're all over this house). Kyan and I slowly made our way down the stairs to the basement (if you saw the stairs, you'd know why I said slowly - let's just say this will be a mother-daughter project today). Lia found a chair and Kyan & I sat down trying to listen in on the scanner as to what was going on. A lot of straight-line winds of 80mph, and trees & power lines down all over Lincoln. A call was made that there were flames spotted by our house down the road, but the all clear was given. We were down there in that disgusting basement for about 30 minutes. The longer we were down there, the less scary it became. Once the sirens went off, we headed upstairs. Power went out briefly, but came back quickly (thank goodness).
After dropping Kyan off at his 1st day at daycare, we went to check on my in-law's house. On our way back, the next line of rain was headed towards Lincoln and I got this picture of it.
I was so grateful the kids & I made it through ok, and I had no damage to our house.
